When Starting A Law Firm Look No Further Than The iPhone For Help

It may not seem like it until you actually get into it, but starting a business involves a lot of touch choices. And starting a law firm is no different. One of the choices you’re going to have to make is what kind of a cell phone you are going to use. Technology can save you a lot of money, and making the right choice is important. Read on to see what I did.

I don’t want to get too far, though, without letting you know who I am. I’ll be 30 years old this. My law firm has been up and running for about 8 months, and before I started my law firm I was an associate attorney at a couple of small law firms and worked for the government for a bit. I’m right on the line between generation X and generation Y. I love new technology and am always excited to try it out.

The iPhone is great for starting a law firm for several reasons. First, it can instantly sync up your email and calendar no matter what your email provider is. I use Gmail and it took me about 30 seconds to set up my account on my iPhone. Same with my calendar. Now the both sync seamlessly with my computer. It allows me to not have to worry about dragging a paper calendar with me wherever I go.

Next, you have the world wide web at your beck and call. The iPhone is set up so that your experience on the internet is exactly the same as if you were sitting at your desk. This makes getting around very easy, particularly when you are looking for the statute you need or the latest sports score.

Finally, the iPhone is awesomely cool, and it makes you look cooler for having one. The applications you can have on your phone range from the very helpful (Washington state statutes) to the very fun (boxed in) to the purely fun (Facebook). If you think breezing around on the internet is fun, just wait until you discovery the applications that abound.

Learning how to start a law firm takes a lot of discipline, a lot of guts, and a little luck. Help yourself stay on task, go for the gold, and increase the opportunities for luck with an iPhone. It will make your law firm run more productively, give you infinite information at your fingertips, and ultimately change your life.

reat Things Can Be Free: The Best in Free iPhone Apps

iPhone | Wednesday January 20 2010 9:57 pm | Comments (0) Tags: , , ,

Plenty of iPhone apps seek to entertain, organize or give us a boost of technology, but many of the good ones will cost you, if only a few dollars. When you consider that there are thousands of iPhone apps available, those few dollars can easily add up to eat a big portion of your bank account. The unspoken truth, however, is that many of these iPhone apps are completely free. Though they may not revolutionize your music library, they may tell you where you’re going or help organize your clutter schedule. These useful apps come free for the taking.

Flashlight – Flashlights are always useful, and this iPhone app turns your phone into one. It sends off bright illuminating colors to make it easier going down a dark stairwell, rooting through your car for that laundry money, or just checking out a map in the dark. Keep a light on that’s actually your cell phone. It’s one of the free iPhone apps that are actually worth keeping around.

iBear Timer – Keep track of the exact time that’s elapsed after an important event, or keep tabs on how long you’ve got until a big event happens, right down to the second. This iPhone app is great for planning, but it also makes a nice conversation piece to know how long you’ve got until that luxury cruise. Useful as well as fun, this is one of those iPhone apps that make time keeping a little easier.

If Found Please – If you lose your iPhone, this app might help you find it again. It’s simple but useful, displaying customized information on your wallpaper so someone knows how to locate you if they find your phone. It even works when the phone is locked.

Lotto Shake – Want to play the Lotto but run out of number combination’s? With this iPhone app, you just shake the phone for a random number combination. It works for the Daily Play, Thunderball, the UK Lotto and Euro Millions. If your iPhone number wins, there’s no reason you have to share the winnings with your iPhone, but it might be nice if you took it out to dinner to show your thanks. iPhone apps need to feel appreciated.

Blessed Beacons and GPS Maps

iPhone | Monday January 18 2010 4:17 pm | Comments (0) Tags: , ,

Back to the keyboard I wander. Sometimes I’ll write about something that prompts me to revisit it and wonder: should I rehash this? Have I said everything I could about a particular topic? Can I say more? Am I being redundant? Sometimes the answer to all these questions is an emphatic yes. Sometimes, it’s a definitive no. Today, I think I’d like to rehash a topic that still haunts me every time I pick up my blessed iPhone.

Now, I realize there is a tremendous amount of animus directed towards we Mac-lovers — and for good reason. I know it’s annoying to have to put up with out smugness and our superior attitude. But don’t blame us — blame Steve Jobs. He made us into the snobs we are. After all, we were just following orders. In fact, I get new orders, via my Cupertino-designed beauty everyday. I swear — Apple is talking to us…in our minds.

Now, I’ve written about the iPhone and its 3G network and its awesome apps, but the feature I find myself using — trailing behind the actual phone and the email access — is the GPS driven map. I can’t tell you how many times that tracking beacon has directed me to assorted Shangri-las across this fine nation of ours. Taco stands, burger joints, coffee shops — I’d be utterly lost without this function. I know — what a cliche. But like all good cliches, there is truth behind it.

As my mind — and all my retention — bleeds out into the ever-increasing, ever-expanding cloud, I can’t help but wonder…what was I talking about? Oh, yes, my GPS tracking device — I mean, my iPhone. Without it, I’m rudderless, a mere pawn in the chess game of the Gods. With it, I defy the Gods, I stand vigilant, ready to be directed to the nearest ATM or Hot Topic store. You can never have too many racing flame high-top Chuck Taylor sneakers, you know.

I am aware of the conspiratorial fact that the tinfoil hat set would have me believe the phone could be used against me — as if I had some worthwhile scheme or master plan to dominate the world that was worth spying on. No, if the government wants to track me, I’d be flattered — but I’m not picking up the tab if they show up at my local Starbucks. If they do show up, I can show them my six pages of solid apps and then maybe we could go for a walk and have dinner together. Again, I’m not paying.

Get your GPS tracking device — I mean your iPhone — online. Hurry, before the government shows up and eats all your Fritos.

iPhone Apps for Fun and Games

iPhone | Sunday January 17 2010 9:14 pm | Comments (0) Tags: , , ,

If you search the web completely, you’ll likely find iPhone apps that actually tell you what underwear to wear today. The iPhone brings technology to just about every walk of life. Some are just for fun, while others mean business. Here are a few of the best iPhone apps to hit the streets.

Bailout Wars – Does Wall St. make you boil? Are you ticked off that bailout money came from your IRS deposit? Skip getting mad and get even with Bailout Wars. It’s genuinely okay and won’t blow you away with the technology, but it might cure your social angst. Graphics could be improved, but doesn’t blowing corporate executives out of the sky sound like your idea of a quiet evening at home? There are many iPhone apps on the market to waste your time, but this one will make you feel better about your disintegrating retirement fund.

Proactive Sleep – Think your alarm clock is sucking your soul? Put Proactive Sleep to the rescue. This iPhone app wakes you up to your music of choice, and then challenges you to a game. If you don’t feel like taking on Hal the All Mighty Computer too early in the morning, you can opt for a dream diary and figure out what that dancing penguin last night was really about. It also tracks your sleep and tells you when you’re below average. If you are constantly hitting your computer keyboard with your forehead around mid-afternoon, Proactive Sleep will tell you why.

iPhone Chat – You’d think buying an iPhone capable of everything would have a chat capability built in, but think again. Iphones are only as capable as the iPhone apps you use to put them to work. The iPhone chat allows you to log into AIM, view contacts and chat away to your heart’s content.

Gas.app – Get gas from the price of gas? Find immediate relief with this iPhone app. Enter in your zip code, and the Gas.app finds you the lowest gas prices in town. Simply click each station for a view of it on Google maps and find your way to discounted gas.

Go Movies – This is one of the iPhone apps that specialize in finding you the right movie show times. It allows you to access the movie site Fandango by zip code and find the latest box office near you. A mapping system will even tell you how to get there.
